Meet the Ponies
Get to know the Sumba ponies at their own pace. Walk the stable grounds, watch them graze, bathe together in the river. Fresh coconut in hand. No pressure, just presence — the first step toward trust.
A three-day journey back to the freedom, confidence, and wonder that horses once gave you.

Not a riding lesson. Not a luxury retreat.
Just horses, nature, trust — and the feeling of being free again.
No arena. No pressure. No performance. Just horses, adventure, and the feeling you thought you'd forgotten.
Many of us loved horses with all our heart before riding became another place to compare, compete, achieve, and get things right.
The world often teaches us to look outside ourselves for answers. Horses do the opposite. Out on the trails, far from arenas and expectations, things become surprisingly simple again: a good horse, a beautiful landscape, good company, and the feeling that maybe life was never meant to be as complicated as we make it.
My name is Steffi, and horses have taken me across Europe, Peru, and Indonesia for more than 20 years. Along the way, I discovered that the moments that stay with us are rarely the perfect ones. They are the moments that make us feel alive.
Back to Pony Days is not a riding clinic, and it's not a luxury retreat. It's simply an invitation to join me and my Sumba ponies for a few unforgettable days of riding, exploring, laughing, and sharing the island together. Like joining a horse-loving friend on an adventure.
A private experience for horse people who want to rediscover the freedom, confidence, curiosity, and wonder that horses once gave them.

Steffi & her Sumba ponies
A slow build from first hello to mountain horizon — every day designed around you and the ponies.

Get to know the Sumba ponies at their own pace. Walk the stable grounds, watch them graze, bathe together in the river. Fresh coconut in hand. No pressure, just presence — the first step toward trust.

Your first ride opens up incredible views. Practice simple exercises like riding over logs, dismounting on the trail, and letting your pony lead through jungle paths. A lesson in letting go and trusting each other.

A four-hour ride deep into the hills. Meet local people and animals along the way, soak in Sumbanese culture, and embrace the simple life. By now you are not just visiting — you are part of the story. Fun, freedom, and a little dust on your boots.
